Combinations of three u, d or s quarks forming baryons with a spin-1/2 form the UDS baryon decuplet. Baryons are strongly interacting fermions, or hadrons – particles composed of quarks – and usually refer to triquarks with (B)aryon numbers of 1/3+1/3+1/3=1. In addition to organizing the mesons and spin-1/2 baryons into an octet, the principles of the Eightfold Way also applied to the strongly interacting spin-3/2 baryons, forming a decuplet.
